Mission Vision Values…WHAT?

What is your mission? Great question right??? I have been a licensed Realtor for 9 years, been with Keller Williams for 7. When I left my full time corporate position 8 years ago I was woefully unprepared for what being a full time Realtor actually meant! I knew I needed a change…so I decided to get my license and just jump in! Keller Williams, specifically the KW Metro North East office and their leadership has provided the home I didn’t know I needed and the structure and balance to help me make my life work.

One of the recurring themes for small business owners which is what Realtors are, is “Why”…why what you may ask, the full question is Why do you do what you do? I struggle with this and have come to the conclusion with the help of my coach, a “why” can be fluid and change over time…that took some pressure off! I truly am not certain why I do this crazy job, just that I love it!

Our office has such great leadership and they are always encouraging and supporting us to identify and reach OUR goals…you got that right? MY goals, not theirs!

I finally got a few things down on paper and they feel like who I am and who my team is becoming…as a teaser, here is our Mission Statement: Our mission is to inspire a positive, lasting impact by turning the dream of home ownership into an address.

Tune in next week for our Value Statement!

2017 Indianapolis Home Show!

It’s that time of year again and last night was the Fischer Homes Preview Night Party for real estate industry professionals and as a REALTOR®,  I was one of the attendees!  This year, the home is a ranch on a full basement…yes, they successfully built a basement in the Expo Hall!

Fischer Homes is showcasing its Rookwood design as this year’s Centerpiece Home, and for the first time it is featuring a ranch design rather than a two-story construction. The Rookwood features a Coastal Acadian elevation with nearly 6,000 square feet of finished living space — the largest home ever built at the Indianapolis Home Show.

Boasting casual yet sophisticated spaces that evoke the feeling of a beachfront home, the Rookwood at the Home Show features a spacious kitchen opening into the adjoining living and dining rooms, a refined study, four bedrooms, 3½ baths and three built-in fireplaces.

It is a beautiful home, casual yet elegant…personally, I don’t need that much square footage, however, I would love to have the master suite and closet!  If you are looking for something to do, you should check out this great home and all the home show vendors, visit the Indianapolis Home Show website for more information and tickets!

And remember, if you are interested in building with Fischers Homes or any other builder, you should remember to work with a REALTOR® to have someone looking out for your best interests!

How long is the Christmas Season?????

Today we are one week away from Thanksgiving!  My family will be celebrating on Saturday as is our custom with lots of family and friends, made even better by the addition of 2 new husbands, 1 step son and 1 little baby girl!  It’s been quite the year for our family!

There was a time that the Christmas season started AFTER Thanksgiving now the commercials start in October, the Hallmark Channels started running nothing but Christmas movies the weekend BEFORE Halloween, and stores have been advertising “black Friday” deals all month!

Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t Christmas shop all through-out the year, but let’s be real…time is passing too fast as it is, let’s take one holiday at a time and focus on enjoying each as it comes and stop rushing through the years…enjoy each season as it comes.  Let’s enjoy Thanksgiving for now!  Me?  I’m looking forward to celebrating THANKSGIVING!

Get out and VOTE!

It is finally ELECTION DAY!  I’m sure that, like me, you are not only grateful for the RIGHT TO VOTE, but that the television commercials, yard signs, news reports about who will win…are going to be over today!  It seems this has been the longest election ever!  I’m tired of the bashing, the Facebook posts and the sponsored Facebook election posts…I have Election Exhaustion!

I don’t care who you voted for, only that you exercised your right to VOTE.  Today is going to be a very long day…at the end, we will have a new President…and the next round of media will commence through the inaguation before the next President can get down to work.  I suspect this will be the most scrutinized President in history…I, for one, will live with the decision of the people…and pray for our Country.

How do you keep your faith?

I struggle with my faith.  No, I don’t go to church, but I do believe in God, that things are truly in his hands and everything happens for a reason.  At 45 I made a decision that has changed my life – I became a licensed realtor and ultimately went into business for myself…you see, my dream has always been to be a CEO and I figured out that I wasn’t going to get there unless I went into business for myself!

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, the BOLD Laws are great and really keep me focused on what is important.  The one that leapt from the page today is “Fear or Faith…You Choose” and it inspired this post.  I have faith in my abilities, however, blind faith is a challenge I face everyday.  One of my Facebook friends posted this and I felt it really spoke to me:

Sometimes God will ask you to do things that you’re afraid of. Just because you’re afraid doesn’t mean you’re not supposed to do it. You have to get out of your comfort zone and do it afraid. If you play it safe all your life, you’ll never reach your full potential. That’s what faith is all about.

My biggest challenge every day is overcoming my fear of failure, however, I am grateful and thankful every day that I am a part of a company which gives me the tools, training and opportunities to grow as well as family and friends who have blind faith in me that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.  How can I fail with all of this on my side.  My goals for this year are big and I get up every morning and work through my affirmations, my gratitude and start my day in faith…how about you?

Congrats to Two Chicks and a Hammer!

As a Realtor, I have seen their rehab work and followed their business…imagine my surprise a couple of weeks ago while watching HGTV and seeing them and Indy with the pilot for their show!  Apparently the world likes them too as they have been signed to a 10 episode deal!

For those unfamiliar, Two Chicks and a Hammer is a mother-daughter house renovation team based in Fountain Square.  HGTV just signed them to a deal for a series that will follow Mina Starsiak and Karen E. Laine as they transform homes in Indianapolis.

A High Noon Entertainment talent scout found the team while searching for another company on Facebook, and after a long interview process, High Noon shot a pilot last fall.  “Two Chicks and a Hammer,” debuted May 4 on HGTV.  The first episode of the new series is scheduled to air in early 2016…read the Indianapolis Star article here:  Two Chicks and a Hammer.

Congrats to these ladies for being recognized…we’re all rooting for you!

What do you think I do to earn my paycheck?

Think you know?  I know my friends understand that I’m busy A LOT, but reality is there is so much more to being a realtor than showing homes…this blog post by Andrew Fortune on his blog Great Colorado Homes puts it so perfectly, I wanted to share.  Click this link to read the post:  What Does a REALTOR® Do To Earn Their Commission?.

Indy Drivers…it’s time to talk…

…when you are in a left turn lane…turn left!  Do not go straight and run the drivers going straight off the road!

…when you are turning right and there are 2 lanes of traffic turning left that have the light…don’t try to “beat” the first one coming at you!  It just ticks us off!

…when it is evening, but not quite dark, but there is no sun…turn your lights on!  Last night at about 4:30 on my way home, I needed to change lanes on a city street and thankfully caught a glimpse of a car to my right just before I would have pulled into him…dark gray day…dark gray car…no lights…really thankful I didn’t hit him!

…it snowed a bit last night, city streets weren’t horrible this morning, but they weren’t dry…drive accordingly.  Even the interstates weren’t in great shape, hence the huge backups around town.

…the “slow” or right lane on the city streets or the interstate is not the passing lane – if we are in that lane and driving the speed limit or slower if the road conditions warrant it, GET OFF MY A**!  Your lack of planning to have enough time to arrive at your destination is not my problem, but it could get you injured or killed if you don’t slow down!

…Emerson Avenue runs North/South through the city and from 10th street to Kessler is a 4 lane road…THE SPEED LIMIT IS 40 MPH and there are a couple of SCHOOL ZONES…please at least drive the speed limit and slow down for the school zones!

Rant over and “let’s be careful out there” everyone, remember, getting somewhere quickly is not worth your life!

2015 Home Show!

Thank you Fischer Homes for the VIP night last night and a sneak peek at the centerpiece home for this years Indianapolis Home Show!  Great food, wine and networking!

At the Indiana State Fair Grounds Exposition Hall, this years show starts today at 11:00 a.m. and runs through Sunday, February 1 and boasts appearances by Ty Pennington from Exteme Makeover Home Edition (“Move that Bus” sound familiar?) on January 31 and Matt Muenster from DIY Network’s Bath Crashers and Bathtastic will be on site January 23 – 25 as well as others, click here for the full list and bios!

The Centerpiece home is beautiful – but a couple of things struck me as wrong…the master closet is very small and the upstairs laundry is huge!  Would love to have the back yard – outdoor kitchen, pool…just beautiful! Click here for a time lapse video of the building of the home.

Planning to go?  Would love to hear your thoughts on the event overall and the Centerpiece Home!
