How’s your attitude?

Myself and other Indy Realtors have just completed the 4th step of a program called BOLD (Business Objective, Life by Design), over seven weeks, BOLD conditions agents with powerful mindset exercises, language techniques, and business-building strategies.  How’s your attitude?  With the things I’m learning, I’ve come to realize that while I put forth a positive attitude to the outside world, I don’t always feel it inside…BOLD is changing that in me and I’m excited about what I am becoming…a more positive, dynamic person as well as Realtor!

Do you believe in the Power of Positive Thinking?  The superpower of negative thinking is that it has a stronger impact than the positive. In fact, negative impact of setbacks in your work is three times as powerful in affecting motivation than positive progress. It’s just easier to remember the bad stuff that’s happened to you during the day than the good.

Why is it that our brains have a such a negativity bias? The reason is simple: They’re wired to pay more attention to negative experiences. It’s a self-protective characteristic, we are constantly scanning for threats from when we used to be hunters and gatherers. But such vigilance for negative information can cause a  downward spiral and a negative feedback loop that does not reflect our realities.

Fortunately, we aren’t doomed by our natural disposition towards negativity. What’s amazing is that we have the ability to break out of that negative feedback loop and we can actually rewire our brains to think positively and that is what BOLD is doing for me!

So tell me…how’s your attitude?  What are your steps to changing?  Don’t you feel that working with a strong, confident, positive Realtor who will work hard to create the best home buying or selling experience for yourself and your friends and family?  I am the best and will work hard to create those great experiences….call me and let’s talk!  I am Vicki Reed, and I’m BOLD!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2013 everyone!  As I do most every morning, I read Annie’s Mailbox while having my coffee and today’s column had a reprint of the “Golden Rules for Living” by Miriam Hamilton Keare…I think they are a nice follow-up to a my “12 Wishes” posts and a great way to start the year:

“Golden Rules for Living” by Miriam Hamilton Keare

1. If you open it, close it.

2. If you turn it on, turn it off.

3. If you unlock it, lock it up,

4. If you break it, admit it.

5. If you can’t fix it, call in someone who can.

6. If you borrow it, return it.

7. If you value it, take care of it.

8. If you make a mess, clean it up.

9. If you move it, put it back.

10. If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it.

11. If you don’t know how to operate it, leave it alone.

12. If it’s none of your business, don’t ask questions.

Remember today that the new has come. It’s a new year with new opportunities, and it’s time for you to be the new you. Let this be the year that you break old habits and addictions. Let this be the year that you move forward into a new life…it is what I wish for myself and for you too.  Happy New Year…

Wish # 10

My tenth wish is that we curb our excess eating and drinking and work toward a healthier lifestyle.  As a nation, we live life large – from the portion sizes in restaurants to fast food “super sizes” and even the way we cook in our own homes.  Heart disease and diabetes have become more common in our lifetimes than those of past generations.

I don’t believe that there is a be all end all answer to the issue, some say “eat organic”, but that can be expensive because organically grown foods cost more and budgets are tight!  I Googled “curbing your excesses for food and drink” and got over 10 million results – the information is available, a lot is written about it, but not everything works for everyone.  I believe if we simply eat and drink in moderation that will put us on the right path.

I am an overweight 48 year old woman, and as a Realtor, I am on the road constantly, networking tends to happen over meals so that just adds to it.  I know that I could eat better, but it takes work and it much easier just to grab something on the run!  I am committing to eating healthier and exercising more in 2013, will you join me?

Wish # 2

My second wish is that everyone feel loved and valued.  I am very blessed in my life…I have family who is supportive and encouraging in everything I do, and friends (The Group) who listen to frustrations and celebrate the victories as they come.  As an adult, I was fortunate to have known all of my Grandparents, the last to pass only a month ago and just before her 98th birthday, despite her diminished capacity, we made certain she knew she was loved and valued by those whose lives were touched by her generous and giving spirit over the years.

I believe one should feel this way in their career as well, I have been a Realtor for 2 1/2 years and moved to Keller Williams Realty (Indy Metro) this year and have truly found a home, I have never worked with a more genuine group of people, received encouragement for ideas that are a little out of the box for Realtors (MAX T Agents!), and the care and support of other agents.  We are all working toward the same goal to build careers worth having, businesses worth owning, and lives worth living.  Click here (Wi4C2TS_poster) to view the Keller Williams Belief System.  If you are thinking about a career change (or Company change if you are a Realtor), contact me, let’s talk.

As I said, I’m blessed with great family, great friends and career I love…tell me your wish…email, call or text me!

Wish # 1

Where to start, where to start…where do you start your list of 12 Wishes for Christmas?   Remember, the wishes are to be for positive change...

I wish for my family and friends to find happiness and success in their everyday lives.

Okay, so what does this really mean?  Those closest to me have struggled so much in the last year, from the financial to the emotional…deaths (some unexpected and some prayed for), home loss, job loss, accidents, unexpected care for loved ones, the list goes on and on.  It it my wish their pain eases, jobs are found, and bodies and hearts heal.

What are your wishes?  Email, call or text me!
